Hi

i'm tryng install linux on a msntv box. for the conection trought the
serial port use a modificated cable from a Siemens S55, which save me
from build the maxim 232 circuit (can see photos in http://www.flickr.com/photos/53515934@N00/tags/msntvhack/ )

i can connect to the msntv bios without problems, then i use the
commands to overwrite the Video Test funcion, and do the test to flash
bios, but it doesn't work for me.

this is the output for the video test command
>vRunning test graphics ...
HW_TestGraphics
Conexant Aquila Lite w/ MacroVision version 2
solid red, hit key
solid green, hit key
solid blue, hit key
solid white, hit key
solid black, hit key
Showing video blue field, hit key
Showing color bars, hit key
Showing flicker filter color bars, hit key
disable video out, hit key
Memory test from 0xf0000000 to 0xf01e0000 level 10

passed.
Displaying video test pattern.
Press any key to continue.
Enter an RGB value to fill screen with or return to exit

this is my msntv model:

as you can see, the Build of my MsnTV is different and this make me
think that address of video test function has been changed.

Where i can find the info for the flash process? i wanna debug this,
anybody can make me any suggestion on this subject?

i put the bios binary file for my device in http://rapidshare.de/files/17328141/msntv_bios_1.10159_european.bin.html

Thanks for your attention,
Elektroduende

That's nice. But, if it's a thompson ip100, how can it be that in the logs, it claims to be a msntv?
When you power it on, if it's connected to a tv, what happens?
Do you get a picture? Is the output in PAL? or NTSC.
Does it boot just like a "regular" msntv2, or does it have a custom software?

Do you have any documentation/SDK for it?
(mostly regarding bios, schematics, etc).

Also, can you provide high resolution photos of the top and bottom layer?
(I would like to look in dettail to the differences)

thanks.

ps: update your profile to enable PM. I would like to contact you.

Can you please tell me what the code is for the IC pointed out in this picture for your box:
http://members.iinet.net.au/~egould/pics/msntv/mb.jpg
Its the IC between the S-video port, and USB port.
I need to know if its a CONEXANT ENCODER CX25873-13.
This is the video IC so I'm trying to work out if I can get it to change to PAL as I am in Australia and the NTSC playback on my TV in my room goes past the borders of my screen. According to the datasheets that I have seen it will output 320x200 to 1024x768 in PAL and NTSC.
